Documenting The Black Experience Globally
Americans are often unaware and unfamiliar with the vast diversity of the global black experience, including the diversity of experiences here in the US. Polyglot and Strolling are two web series that attempt and succeed in providing some insight.
Strolling is a short documentary film series created by Cecile Emeke . In each episode, the series takes the viewer on a stroll with people in various cities and countries around the world, having refreshingly raw and honest conversations about various issues at the forefront of their society. Strolling touches on everything from feminism, sexuality, gender, race and politics to philosophy, art, history, capitalism, war and poverty… and everything else you can think of.
Polyglot is a Berlin based web series followoing the lives of young Polyglots in Berlin. The series begins with the experience of Poet/rapper/actress Babiche Papaya on her quest to find affordable housing.
